2. Number of lessons/duration of each lesson

When choosing the number of lessons that you plan to take, make sure to consider your personal goals. Are you on vacation and would like casually to learn a language while traveling, or is your main goal language proficiency? Especially if you are booking a long course, we recommend choosing more lessons (without overdoing it!) since you will find plenty of time for sightseeing and exploration on the weekends.

You should also consider the length of each course when you are deciding on your classes, as class times can vary from 45 to 60 minutes depending on the school.

You can find more information about the number of lessons per week and the duration of each lesson in Language International’s school profiles.

3. Class size

Class sizes range from one-to-one lessons to large classroom learning environments, and there are certainly advantages to both small classes and larger ones. Generally speaking, the smaller the class size, the faster you will improve. Small groups offer more opportunities for you to practice speaking and allow for real conversations between students. However, with small classes prices usually increase as the class size decreases, which you should know before you make your final decision.

Larger classes will usually be less expensive, and will also allow you to meet and mingle with more students during your stay. However, in larger classes, it is harder to receive individualized attention from teachers, and students will need to stay focused in order to get the most out of their class.

When you are comparing class sizes, be sure to check both the maximum class size and the average class size, and note that classes will usually be larger during peak seasons of study. You will find more information about class size in Language International’s school profiles.
