The SIELE Preparation Course at Celas Maya
is designed for students who want to prepare effectively for the official SIELE examination (Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española). The course provides personalized instruction, practical exam training, and focused preparation adapted to the student’s current Spanish level and target score.

Before starting the program, students complete a placement evaluation and academic assessment to determine their language proficiency, strengths, and areas that require further development. Based on these results, an individualized study plan is created to maximize progress and exam performance.

The course focuses on all components of the SIELE exam, including:

reading comprehension;
listening comprehension;
written expression and interaction;
oral expression and interaction;
vocabulary and grammatical accuracy;
and digital exam strategies and time management.

Students work with authentic practice materials, simulated examinations, and guided activities that familiarize them with the digital format and evaluation criteria of the SIELE exam. Classes are taught by experienced native-speaking instructors using a communicative and student-centered methodology that promotes confidence, fluency, and practical language use.

The SIELE Preparation Course is ideal for:

students seeking an internationally recognized Spanish certification;
university applicants;
professionals requiring proof of Spanish proficiency;
international workers and exchange participants;

Unlike traditional paper-based exams, SIELE is fully digital and offers flexible examination dates with rapid results, making it an excellent option for students and professionals with academic or work-related deadlines.

Located in the heart of Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala’s second largest city, Celas Maya Spanish School offers students a safe, authentic, and academically focused environment for Spanish immersion. The school is situated in a central and walkable area of the city, close to cafés, restaurants, markets, museums, gyms, banks, pharmacies, and public transportation.
Quetzaltenango is internationally recognized as one of the best destinations in Latin America for serious Spanish study due to its authentic Spanish-speaking environment, strong indigenous Maya culture, and lower presence of English compared to more touristic cities. This allows students to practice Spanish naturally in daily life and accelerate their learning process through real cultural interaction.
Celas Maya combines high-quality Spanish instruction with deep cultural immersion. Students can participate in cultural workshops, cooking classes, conferences on Guatemalan history and Maya culture, volunteer opportunities, and excursions to important destinations such as Lake Atitlán, Chichicastenango, Fuentes Georginas, and local villages in the Guatemalan highlands.

At Celas Maya
, our homestay program is designed to provide students with a safe, comfortable, and authentic cultural immersion experience in Quetzaltenango. All host families are located within walking distance of the school and in the surrounding neighborhoods, allowing students to move easily between their accommodation and classes without the need for transportation.

Students stay in carefully selected Guatemalan homes where they can experience daily life, traditions, and genuine interaction with local families. The most important aspect of the homestay experience at Celas Maya is communication and cultural exchange, helping students practice Spanish naturally outside the classroom.

Host families provide three daily meals, offering students the opportunity to enjoy traditional Guatemalan cuisine and learn more about the country’s culinary culture. Meals often include local ingredients, homemade dishes, and regional specialties from the Guatemalan highlands.

To support students’ health and well-being, the school also provides purified drinking water through an ozone purification system. We encourage students to bring reusable water bottles or containers and refill them at the school throughout the day.
