Standard Italian Course

Our Standard Italian course is the ideal choice for international students who want to learn Italian in a friendly, small-group environment while fully experiencing life in Milan.

Each week, lessons are carefully designed to develop all four key language skills — speaking, listening, reading and writing — with a strong emphasis on real communication. From your very first day, you will actively use Italian in meaningful, everyday situations, building confidence and fluency step by step.

Learning extends beyond the classroom. On selected days, lessons take place around the city: visiting a local market, ordering in a café, or discovering historic streets and landmarks in the centre of Milan. These guided activities allow you to practise Italian in authentic contexts and experience the language as it is truly lived.

Our teaching approach is based on the Communicative Method, which encourages natural and effective language acquisition. Grammar and structure are integrated with practical communication, ensuring that you not only understand Italian but can use it spontaneously in real situations.

All classes are taught by qualified native-speaking Italian teachers who create dynamic, interactive lessons tailored to the needs of international learners. The supportive atmosphere and small class sizes ensure personal attention and active participation for every student.

ILS International Language School Milan is located in Via Disciplini 5, an elegant cobbled street in the historical city centre. A stone's throw away from the Duomo Cathedral, ILS is close to cafés, restaurants, bars, the fashion districit and many sites of interest. The closest subway stops are Missori - M3 on the yellow line and Duomo - M1 on the red line.
The Bocconi University, the Catholic University and the Statale University are all less than 15 minutes walk from our language school.

In just 10 minutes you can reach the Darsena and Navigli canal district, allowing you to enjoy a typical aperitif after your lesson, in one of the many local bars. "The best way to immerse yourself in Italian in Italy!"

I am extremely satisfied with my choice to study Italian at I.L.S. International Language School in Milan. The administration and teachers are keen to meet you at your current level and progress at the pace you want to go. Once you have your basics down, they are strict (in a good way) about speaking Italian only within classroom walls, thus accelerating your advancement. The Italian teachers were very skilled and warm. Since I was studying daily, the school scheduled different instructors at consistent times during the week to provide me with three different styles of instruction. They also included field trips in the city and even hosted social hours so that we could get to know other students. Everyone at the school is so kind, and they have became not just teachers and acquaintances, but friends. The classrooms and building are very pleasant and spacious and well located in the heart of Milan. I plan to study more at the school in the future, and will gladly recommend ILS to anyone looking for a quality Italian language education in Italy!
